Usually, a downhill par 3 requires somewhat less club than advertised. In the instance of #6 on the North Course at Torrey Pines, the question may be 'is one more club enough or is two clubs too many?' It is so because the golfer must factor in ocean breezes which fluctuate from moment to moment.
