Located in the heart of South Philadelphia, Lincoln Financial Field ushered in a new era for the Philadelphia Eagles with the inaugural game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in early September of 2003. Established as an NFL franchise in 1933 during the Great Depression, the club adopted the symbol of the Eagle after President Roosevelt's New Deal Recovery Program - as a sign of hope and prosperity. In 2004, the Philadelphia Eagles made their second Super Bowl appearance when they competed in Super Bowl XXXIX.
